My calling is to support others, including (and perhaps especially) when they are struggling. I stand by people’s sides, helping them overcome hardships, and untangle complex challenges. Having hit rock bottom myself, I understand that resilience comes easier through solidarity and friendship, which is at the core of my business.
My journey into real estate has been shaped by a passion for helping others, especially during challenging times. I grew up in a small town near San Antonio, surrounded by chickens and lambs. My childhood was wonderful but my teenage years brought challenges that would eventually transform me: my parents separated, I lost a close friend in a car accident, and I became addicted to alcohol. In a rare moment of clarity, I reached out to my mom and said, “I can’t stop drinking. I need help.”
By 22, I was sober. Rehab helped me change my lifestyle, beginning with nutrition. I started eating healthier, exercising regularly, reading, and distancing myself from people whose lives revolved around partying. After sobering up, I worked as an assistant director at a country club, where I met my husband, Jermaine. We married in 2011, and when he got stationed in Georgia, we moved. That’s when the idea of real estate started. My grandfather Harry, who had a brokerage for 30 years, encouraged me to get my license, but I wasn’t ready. Instead, I joined a military insurance company.
I started by servicing policies, then moved into sales, but I found more satisfaction working as a total loss adjuster. I helped people who had lost everything, including vehicles or even homes to natural disasters. I took care of my clients to the point where I was recognized by the company’s CEO. Although things were going great at my job, life took a turn when my dad was diagnosed with a serious illness. I left my job to care for him, but we lost him overnight. Soon after, my father-in-law and my grandmother passed away, both of whom I took care of. Within a year, I’d lost three major family members; I was exhausted and grieving.
These events drastically changed my life, and I realized what was most important and decided to pursue what brought me joy and gave me a chance to be with my family more. First, I became a personal trainer, given my love for fitness and nutrition. Jermaine and I also became licensed foster parents, caring for babies who needed safe homes. I also got my real estate license in 2020, fulfilling my grandfather’s dream for me!
My start as a real estate agent was slow. After six months with no sales, I found a coaching program that helped me gain confidence. Suddenly, within a week, I had four clients under contract, and business picked up. Jermaine and I also had the pleasure of fostering two precious twin babies, which filled our house with joy. Soon, I was balancing my real estate business, personal training, and twins–– it was too much! I decided to focus on real estate and foster care.
As I began to thrive in real estate, my grandfather, Harry, passed away. He was the closest man in my life growing up, after my dad. I went to him for advice constantly and he’s the reason I got into real estate. After his death, I sold his house. This was a powerful full-circle moment; he would have been proud that it was me who sold it.
Today, I am delighted with my business and my family. Jermaine and I adopted two children: our son, Nash, who is 2 years old, and daughter, Alayah. We also became legal guardians to the twins we once fostered! We have a close relationship with them and their mother, who is our neighbor. Family and health mean everything to me—I box five days a week, tend to my vegetable garden, and volunteer for a foster community, providing essentials to foster parents.
Life has taught me resilience, and real estate has become a platform for me to uplift others, just as my family has supported me.
I’m deeply committed to educating clients, regardless of their budget, and guiding them toward smart decisions that will serve them well. I’m always accessible by phone and make a point of being fully present, especially for first-time home buyers who often need extra guidance. I take time to answer questions thoroughly, explain each step clearly, and repeat information if needed, ensuring they feel fully supported. I’ve built partnerships with other trusted and heart-centered professionals—lenders, inspectors, and other specialists—who share my values, so my clients have reliable support for all their needs.
My specialty is in residential real estate and investments. I’m also a certified Military Relocation Professional. As a veteran spouse, I completely understand the ins and outs of a military move and love helping veterans. I not only assist with buying or selling homes but also help investors find the right properties, handle restorations, and manage leasing. Real estate is an excellent way to build financial stability, and I’m passionate about making that a reality for my clients. Whether they’re purchasing their first home or growing their investment portfolio, I’m here to help them achieve their goals and care for them along the way!
Sincerely,
Shiana Polite
